Measures to Improve Accessibility

A series of measures have been implemented on the website deporteasturiano.org with the  aim of improving accessibility. The benefits of these measures include, among others:

  • To facilitate access for individuals regardless of their physical condition or environment.

  • To allow access using different user agents and to include clear and well-structured content.

  • To improve navigation and the user experience.

Among the measures implemented:

  • Logical order of presentation of elements on the screen and of the content in the code.

  • Use of W3C standards.

  • XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2 syntax.

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Level AA

Design and Layout

The design and layout of the portal www.asturias.es have been developed taking into account the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0), which directly affect this part of the development:

  • Separation of content and presentation through style sheets.

  • Use of relative units (allowing text resizing and flexible layouts).

  • Color contrast control.

Navigation

To facilitate navigation, all documents on the site maintain a similar structure in which the same elements are included.

Utilities Section

In the header of each page, there is a utilities section that includes links to:

  • Home Page

  • Accessibility Policy
  • Contact Section
  • Addresses and Contact Numbers of Interest
  • Site Map
  • Portal available in multiple languages
  • Search

In order to provide users with direct access to all the contents of the portal, a search system is offered, which is present on all documents of the site.

Breadcrumb navigation

All documents on the site include the mechanism known as Breadcrumbs. Its purpose is to provide the user with context within the portal, indicating a possible path from the home page to the current document.

Document Information

Likewise, at the end of all documents, access is provided to the privacy policy and legal aspects that directly affect the published content.

Skip Links

To facilitate access to content for users who use assistive technologies (voice browsers, screen readers, etc.), links have been created to skip the navigation sections and go directly to the content of the documents.
