Knowledge, conservation, protection and management of the marine environment is one of the priority objectives of the Marine Strategy in the European Union. For this reason, the General Directorate of Maritime Fisheries of the Principality of Asturias, through the Fisheries Experimentation Center, has been working for almost 10 years on the creation, maintenance and updating of the Geographic Information System of the Coastal and Marine Environment of the Principality of Asturias. The information collected during this time has been used for the management of our marine resources, both by professionals in the sector and by marine environment managers and researchers.
To offer new ways of accessing information, a new cartographic viewer on the Marine Environment of the Principality of Asturias has been added to the SITPA-IDEAS portal, in the "Environment" section. The information layers are also available for download from the Download Center.
