The Department of Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Citizen Rights will sign an agreement with the National Geographic Information Center (CNIG) to obtain high-quality aerial orthophotographs of the Asturian territory.

The Government Council has approved the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Citizen Rights and the National Geographic Information Center (CNIG), an Autonomous Body attached to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA). ), to obtain high-resolution aerial orthophotographs, in the territorial area of ​​the Principality of Asturias. These works are part of the National Aerial Orthophotography Plan (PNOA), whose objective is the coverage of the entire Spanish territory through digital images with metric properties, with a fixed update period of 3 years.

With regard to the Principality of Asturias, the agreement contemplates an improvement in the quality of the images, with a resolution of 25 cm pixel, greater precision, correction and radiometric adjustment compared to the standard product. These improvements will allow more efficient management and planning of public policies in multiple areas of action (natural resources, environment, agriculture, rural areas, municipal urban management, etc.). This agreement will be extended until November 30, 2024, with the possibility of extension for annual periods, and will involve the contribution of work worth 37,750.24 euros, the cost of which is assumed by the Department of Territorial Planning. The authorization of this agreement demonstrates the intention to collaborate and the interest in the production of cartographic information in a shared and coordinated manner between administrations for better and more efficient management of public resources.
